SOUTH OKANAGAN SIMILKAMEEN PRIDE SOCIETY
Working Together Towards a Brighter Future for all

BLACK LIVES MATTER
South Okanagan Similkameen Pride Society condemns the use of excessive force and brutality and the killing of George Floyd.
We recognize that our Rights as they stand are a result of the work of Queer and Trans Black Women of color and we stand in support and Solidarity with the Black lives Matter Movement.
WE DEEPLY APPOLOGIZE FOR THE DELAY IN ISSUING THIS STATEMENT. (June 6,2020)
In recognition and support of the Global Black Lives Matter movement, South Okanagan Similkameen Pride Society is making a Financial donation to Black Lives Matter Vancouver as an act of solidarity with the Black community in Canada and around the world.
Covid-19
We want to begin by saying that we hope everyone is following the directions from Public Health and staying safe and healthy. This is an unprecedented time for our country in recent history and we are figuring it out together.
From us at SOS Pride, we are announcing that we will not be hosting any public or social community events for the indefinite future. This includes monthly socials, our monthly Pride Pages book club, our annual Spring dance and events throughout June celebrating Pride month. Although we are sad to make this announcement, we know that many people are losing their jobs, their livelihoods, their health and their lives across the world. Our thoughts are with all of those facing health and financial crises right now, including people locally here in our own community.
For the board members who are still able to volunteer at this time, we will continue to post content relating to the LGBTQ2+ community on our website and Facebook page. We will also continue our monthly newsletter with content to help brighten people’s day and keep connected with our membership.
For now, we are thinking of everyone, sending you love and hope, and reminding you of your strength.
Peace & love from the SOS Pride Board of Directors.
20th Anniversary
Trans Day of Remembrance
SOS Pride held a candlelight vigil in Gyro Park on November 20th, there was a brief expression of what this day means and a moment of 'silence to honor the fallen Trans members of our community.
Please join us in memoriam of these brave humans and the cost they paid for freedom.
At South Okanagan Similkameen Pride Society, we are driven by a single goal; to do our part in making the world a better place for all. We are committed to providing safe spaces and events for all members of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Two-Spirit, Plus community.
By creating and promoting quality and Inclusive events we hope to engage in an active and open forum for support and community not only for the LGBTQ2+ members but for our Friends, Allies and supporters.
