Trans Day of Remembrance
SOS Pride held a candlelight vigil in Gyro Park on November 20th, there was a brief expression of what this day means and a moment of 'silence to honour the fallen Trans members of our community. Please join us in memoriam of these brave humans and the cost they paid for freedom.
November 20th, 2020 was the 20th anniversary of Trans Day of Remembrance. Started by Gwendolyn Anne Smith to memorialize the murder of transgender woman Rita Hester.
By 2010 the memorial grew to 185 cities throughout 20 countries . Trans women of colour have largely carried the burden of this travesty.
Ultimately all transitioning humans have been at risk and have paid the ultimate price. Please join us in unity as we remember those who have broken the trail ahead and have demonstrate the power of compassion and resilience.
