In the wake of the guilty verdict in the killing of George Floyd on April 20, 2021, South Okanagan Similkameen Pride Society renews our recognition in support of the global Black Lives Matter movement and acknowledges that the guilty verdict in George Floyd’s murder does not bring justice to the countless Black lives that have been taken due to excessive force, brutality and violence.
We continue to recognize that our rights as they stand within the LGBTQ2S+ community are a result of the work of Queer and Trans Black Women of colour and we continue to stand in support and solidarity with the Black Lives Matter Movement.
